Assigned Subject Competitions

The list below contains the Assigned Subjects for the 2023 – 2024 Competitions. Adjacent to each subject is a description detailing the type of images that may be entered. Please check the Program and Competition Schedule  for the competition date of each Assigned Subject.

The descriptions will be read to the judge at each competition. It will be at the judge’s discretion to disqualify an image if they feel it does not meet the description.

Flowers

9-18-23

The flower(s) must be the dominant subject. Other elements are permitted as long as the flower(s) can be identified as the main subject. 

Architecture

10-16-23

The image must depict some type of architecture as the main subject. A partial abstract, where the architectural elements are identifiable are acceptable. Full abstracts are NOT permitted.

Abandoned & Decayed

11-13-23

The image must depict something abandoned or decayed as the main subject. A partial abstract, where the decayed elements are identifiable are acceptable. Full abstracts are NOT permitted.

CMCC Memorial Competition

12-11-23

One printed image of your choice. The image cannot be one that has won a previous award. The printed image may be displayed with a mat or mounted on foam board. No frames.

Water in any Form

1-22-24

The image can depict Water in any Form, but the water must be the dominant subject.

Abstract

2-26-24

The abstract must reflect the exploration of color, shape, line, light, or a combination of those basic elements. Recognizable animals, birds, and people are not permitted.

Sunrises or Sunsets

3-25-24

The Sunrise or Sunset must be the main subject in the image. Long exposures are acceptable and can include motion or ICM. 

Things that Fly

4-29-24

The image may depict anything that is flying or can fly. The Thing that Flies must be the dominant subject.

Marco & Close-Up

5-20-24

The macro or close-up must be the main subject. Partial abstracts, such as flower petals, are acceptable. The subject should dominate the frame.
